Introduction
Creativerse is a free-to-play Roblox multiplayer game that was released on May 9, 2017 and developed by Playful Corporation. Creativerse gives the experience of a 3D open world where imagination is the limit. Dive into Playful’s interactive simulation game that everyone can enjoy.
Gameplay
Creativerse’s core gameplay revolves around building with a few survival aspects added. Players are able to collect materials, craft, build, mine, and kill creatures throughout the map. When the game is first launched, a player is directed to a screen to customize their avatar. After confirming the avatar’s appearance, the player is then brought to their own procedurally generated world and will be provided with tooltips about the game’s basic mechanics. Recent patches include changes to the introduction that make it more of an interactive guide for beginners, giving them quests that will help them explore the game and world. Unlike common sandbox games, Creativerse provides players with a futuristic gauntlet as a means of manipulating matter. This gauntlet can be upgraded in order to affect higher tier blocks. Additionally, players are able to create certain tools for usage in other activities; wiring tool, plow tool, and taming bell. Armors and swords are also available in the game, as well as workstations such as processors, forges, and cooking station. Cosmetics were added as of late 2017.
The game’s ever expanding recipe system defines your progress. Players can access a crafting menu that will show all recipes available in a categorized fashion with the locked ones greyed out. Clicking on a recipe will show what materials are needed in order to unlock it, with some requiring the player to unlock certain recipes first. However, there are rare recipes which can only be acquired through exploration, combat, or seasonal events.
Creativerse does not support offline mode. All worlds are hosted on Playful’s dedicated servers. Administrative settings are available for admins, mods, and the players themselves to avoid griefing in public servers. Players can own tiles of the map by ‘claiming’ them, restricting other players from interacting with their area without their permission. Ores and coins can be used to claim zones, with a maximum of 25 per world. Additional game aspects include taming creatures, farming, and cooking. A loot chest that may contain potions and ores can be claimed every 4 hours.
Creativerse also has teleporters and touchstones (a player’s personal teleporter) as means of transportation. When a player dies, they will spawn a death statue on the place where they died and will respawn to their touchstone. Aside from the common normal worlds, players can also create Adventures that allow them to create and publish mini-games or showcases for other players to play/explore.
Connection and Syncing Issues
Fast internet speed is essential or players will have a hard time connecting to servers. Since its 64-bit update, Creativerse is more resource intensive, requiring a better than average PC to run it smoothly on a high resolution. The game also suffers from syncing problems and may sometimes take a couple of minutes before the server registers changes the player made.
Steam Workshop
Their update called Blueprint Revolution added Steam Workshop support to the game. This patch allowed players to upload their creations online for others to download and use in their own worlds. The Workshop showcases a variety of blueprints that includes extravagant builds, building modules, pixelated arts, machine modules, arc designs, and more.
DLCs & In-Game Shop
As of now, the game has only two available DLCs for purchase. Creativerse Pro provides players with additional stamina, an additional 20 inventory slots, access to more world settings, and the ability to create multiple worlds. Additional perks are also included, such as glider and a pocket flashlight. The Welcome bundle, on the other hand, offers the exclusive Golden Blocks, its recipes, and 1500 gold coins. They also have an in-game shop where they sell more block recipe bundles and cosmetics through gold coins. Players can buy coin bundles by using Steam Wallet funds.
Conclusion
Creativerse is a great game for people who love creating buildings and interacting with people. The game is most enjoyable when playing with friends. This game is relaxing and addicting to the point that players may lose track of time. If you like it, be sure to pick up its DLC to support further development. Playful Corp. is not a big company, so please consider those purchases. Creativerse is expected to have some performance and visual improvements in addition to more upcoming content and features in the Summer of 2018. 7/10
